Saree is not about the clothing, it’s all about draping the pride for conveying the culture, roots and attitude towards the better. When Hindu Civilization introduced the saree concept it was only to meet the need to cover the body but in today's life it has become a part of the personality, beauty and nature that carry one’s individuality.
When I asked Sampurna, why you wear a saree on every occasion when people run behind the trends and assimilate the modern culture. She stated it helps her to feel her inner self, makes her more comfortable and she connects with her culture and her roots. She can find the feminine energy, the natural beauty to carry a woman within her.
She feels deeply rooted yet limitless just like the flair. The most beautiful thing is that whenever she wears the 6-yard clothes around her, she isn’t just wearing a piece of fabric, he is carrying the legacy- a history of her mother where she plays hide and seek along with it. It helps her to recall the memory of her grandmother and the vibrant and beautiful culture she belongs to.
I asked Pratibha about the saree and the feeling she carried when she draped the saree. For her, A saree is for that attire too. She stated that it is a celebration of her individuality. She loves to wear sarees and she does not wait for any occasion to wear sarees. Her every pleat, every drape can reflect her expression to become a woman from a girl. She claimed that when she wears it, she feels a certain elegance that is different from anything else. However, she also said that saree brings timeless beauty that cannot be brought by other clothes.
She feels every fold can adapt to her every mood. When she feels sad and vulnerable, the soft texture of the cotton saree can hold her emotions, and provide a motherly touch, it feels like medicine in her open wound. When she wants to feel the spark within her, the red silk helps her to embrace her inner rebel and boldness which are the main key to her confidence. Pratibha can express herself without any words. She drapes it differently each time and she loves to experiment with bold colors or layering with different ornaments which is the expression of her creativity and expression of her limits. It's her way of sharing her journey- a graceful blend of the modern and traditional world.
I want to share the story of our little nugget, Kuhu. She is just 10 years old and felt like the most grown-up girl in the world when she wrapped her saree around her. She used to wear her father’s old red and white Gamcha and drape her in her style. Her hand and unconscious brain awkwardly folded the clothes just like her mother. Kuhu ties the Gamcha around her waist and lets the end fall over her shoulder like Anchal. At that moment she was not at all a little girl, and she mimicked her mother very well. It helps her to create an imaginary land ger she cooks food for her family and sweeps the floor just like her mother does.
The
Anchal is her favorite part where she can smell the scent of her mother can
feel the warmth of her. The saree is the main fundamental aspect of her Ghar
Ghar play. The most beautiful woman in her world is her mother and Kuhu knew
she’d carry the beauty, that strength, just like her mother.
Let's discuss the story of Argha, seeing his wife in a saree evokes a flood of emotions. He said that the saree brings out her an elegance that can’t be put into words. It reminds him of all the reasons he fell in love with her. He loves how the saree transforms her and makes her look like a version of grace, strength and warmth. Moreover, Arghya can see the motherly instincts of her wife while she drapes her in the 6-yard clothes.
